WHO WE ARE
To evoke a sense of awe and wonderment of our fellow creatures through photography.
There are those of us who wish to remove us from nature proposing that humans are too destructive on the environment. In some cases this may be true, however, we are part of nature and engage with it daily. Through photography we are able to observe these magnificent animals without endangering them or ourselves. Photography can be a scientific endeavor helping organizations and universities studying these animals providing instructive and educational material. Professionals, students and volunteers gain a better understanding of how we can help to preserve these endangered and some critically endangered species. If humans are at fault for their demise, we have a responsibility to be part of the efforts to save them.
Owner Background
I am a pediatric RN and a MSN practicing and teaching in Southern California. Vacationing on the big island of Hawaii, snorkeling near the shore I encountered a green sea turtle, in Hawaiian Honu. This turtle swam up to me peered into my mask and I believe into my soul. For the better part of an hour it lazily grazed, occasionally surfacing for air but never left my side. When I came to shore a local resident who had been watching told me in ancient Hawaiian Honu was spirt animal and this was obviously mine. I was hooked and determined to learn and help these animals anyway possible. For a better part of twelve years I have been volunteering with sea turtle organizations in Hawaii, California, Texas and Florida. Volunteer work has taken me to three Central American countries and several Caribbean islands with a trip planned for the South Pacific and the Maldives.
With the encouragement of my husband I have learned to dive and have purchased underwater camera equipment. Many of my photos have been shared with the volunteer organizations I work with as educational and instructional for future research.
My sincere hope is the public will enjoy my photos enough to purchase them which will allow me to fund further research to preserve these magnificent animals.
